"Why should the calculus of the destinies not have its thorny parts?"

Brooke, WTF?

OK, when I was watching Community last night, and a commercial for the upcoming show Who Do You Think You Are? came on, I almost fell off the couch.  No, it wasn’t because learning more about other people’s genealogy is one of the most boring things in the world so WHY would you make a show of it (but…TRUE).  It was because I saw that Brooke Shields is going to be on it.

What the hell?  I happen to know that a document detailing Brooke’s genealogy is available for review at the Newberry Library. Compiled by a fan, who spent untold hours of research, it’s 120 pages long.  I’ve never looked at it myself but have heard lots about it (spoiler! like seemingly everyone else you ever meet, Brooke is descended from royalty).

Brooke: are you too lazy to stop by the Newb to answer any lingering family tree queries?  And I feel fairly certain that the author sent you a copy. How insulted is the author now?  Do you know how long it takes to put that stuff together? If obsessed fans go to the trouble to research your bloodline, isn’t it a bit disrespectful to go on TV and act like you know nothing about your grandma?
